I had a conversation with a friend tonight and I need to remember my own advice so I am writing it down here.

He said, "I just feel like waiting for her."

And I said, "I am not telling you that waiting is wrong, I am telling you that you've got to be waiting on God and not her. It cannot be your foot on the threshold that's keeping the door open. The Lord has a wife for you. Not friends with benefits, not meaningless flings, not ghosts of romance past: a wife. And He will bring her to you when the time is right. And He will wait on you if you're preoccupied with missed opportunities, but don't make that the case. Be waiting on Him to orchestrate the plans. He is a master craftsman and he will not sell you short. Be praying about the day the Lord brings your wife not the day you and [ex-girlfriend] get back together. Maybe they're the same, maybe they're not, but the first is way more important."
